Comic Times Two

I wore this outfit this past Sunday for my birthday dinner with my family.

My Comic Clutch is one of my favorite accessories.
I recently saw this awesome comic-themed skirt and knew I had to have it. Pairing the clutch and the skirt was genius!

Statement Skirts, Stylish Shoes

You've probably noticed that I have a thing for skirts - particularly circle skirts. They're so festive, fun, and fancy.

Over the past few years, I've accumulated a number of statement skirts that typically turn heads. This post includes only a handful of them, along with potential shoe pairings. Perhaps I'll create another post to highlight a few of my other notable skirts.

(1) Pleated skirts have been back for a few years now, and this skirt takes it to another level with the metallic effect. Yes, it may look like aluminum foil, but I can make it work. I can go simple and do a basic black or white top, or I can go over the top and do something brighter and more vibrant. We'll see...

Zara skirt. Prada peep toe pumps.

(2) This skirt is a few years old and I've worn it a handful of times. It's your basic circle skirt, but the red is so rich, and that's what's making the statement here. The bold printed shoes bring the skirt to life.

The Lady in Redish Orange...

I wore this dress while hanging out with my family on Saturday. I bought it at the beginning of the summer from H&M, but never wore it. It had shoulder straps, but for some reason it just didn't fit right, so I cut them off...

You can see the details of the dress in this closeup picture. I layered a tank underneath to conceal my bra straps.
I can switch up the color of the tank or layer a cropped denim vest on top to change up the look a bit.

More is More!

We've all heard the expression "less is more" - and I think that is certainly true in some situations. However, I also subscribe to the theory that "more is more." There are times when I want to be bold, ostentatious and over-the-top - and it can work, with the right pieces.

This is my "evening look" from last week's "Girls Getaway"- and I went with not 1, not 2, but 3 statement pieces. Sounds like a bit much, right?
