Mad About Plaid

I don't wear a lot of suits these days. Corporate attire has gotten a lot more casual over the years, and my job instituted a "jeans" dress code; however, I'm generally on the dressy side at work. Part of the reason is I'm not going to stop wearing my existing wardrobe to accommodate the new dress code, and I actually like being "dressed up." It makes me feel more professional and productive.

I got these awesome cropped plaid pants and blazer from Nordstrom - they're from the Nordstrom private label "Halogen." I wore this look to work earlier in the week and felt very "boss-like."

Make a Statement!

It has gotten pretty cold recently, and in the interest of "staying fashionable," it's critical to invest in statement outerwear to still look cute while staying warm. Whether it's a pop of color, an interesting pattern, or a cool fabric - a statement coat is such an easy way to liven up the landscape.

I saw an ad for this coat, and the model looked so good in it, I said to myself, "Ooooh, I have to get that." But I have several coats, and did I really need to add another piece to my wardrobe? NO! But then the Black Friday sales rolled around and everything was on sale for 50% off.

Know When to Walk Away

Red is such a striking color, but for some reason I don't have enough of it in my wardrobe. Last Sunday, the weather in the northeast was extremely mild, so I took advantage of it and threw on my faux leather shorts, red blazer, and red boots.

Red is such a hard color to match up, but the boots and blazer look like they were meant to be together.
